Broccoli in 2022
Hello everyone,
It’s been a while, hasn’t it! Thank you for staying subscribed to us, and reading again after such a big break.
While we’ve been a little quiet on this end, 2022 has not been a quiet year for Broc. We had our first show on in 3 years in June, the brilliant Before I Was a Bear by Eleanor Tindall, and we funded research and development weeks for 3 new plays.
I asked Elly, one of our wonderful associates to write a few words on Bear and an R&D we produced for her new play:
Before I Was a Bear
We were so delighted to bring Before I Was A Bear back, and to Soho Theatre - a dream home for this play in particular. It felt wonderful to see how the play had evolved over time; taken on new meanings, carried new weight - and how the team had changed too, and what this brought to the new iteration. The response to it was also hugely moving and special.
& a new piece
I was grateful to be able to spend a week with such talented & generous artists R&Ding let me tell you why i was buried in the stars, a play that i’ve been developing for years about workplace brutality, love & finding power in unlikely places. The week was hugely enriching and will be essential to the next stage of the play.

We thought as Christmas is just around the corner, we’d do 20% off our tea towels! Get 20% off using the code CHRISTMASSPECIAL
By buying a tea towel and supporting Broccoli you’ll be making a huge difference towards our core costs for next year. It’s not very sexy, but it’s vital work that keeps the company going and allows us & our associate artists to flourish.
Thank you for sticking with Broccoli, and we’re so excited to share more plays and writing with you in the New Year.
Also, here’s a Broccoli recipe we love
For now, have a brilliant rest of your year and see you soon!
